This is us…and the kiss that belongs in a box
If you haven’t had a chance to check out the 3 other post in the This Is Us series, click here, get up to speed and then come right back to hear more of this epic love story.
After a little over a month of us doing the long distance dance (phone calls, AIM, video-chat, letters, cards, etc) we finally we’re able to meet in person on December 1st.
Its one of the points in our relationship that I’ll never forget. By this point each time we had tried to make a trip happen something jumped in the way. One particular time he was scheduled to come in and the day before I went to take care all of my grooming. Hair, nails, toes, and eyebrow wax. I made a really bad mistake of going to a new nail salon and got my eyebrows waxed, when I got them done the chick used alcohol and BURNED all the skin around my eyebrows! It was soooooooo bad, luckily this happened to be a time that the trip didn’t work out. Of course because of my burned face I wasn’t that upset.
But moving right along. So by December I was all kinds of emotions wrapped into one tiny little body (pre-baby so ya know I was skinny & all. LOL). I arrived at the airport a good hour before just in case. I get to baggage claim and I sit down and butterflies are doing My Gym movements in my belly at this point. And then I turn towards the stairs and see this guy with this huge grin walk towards me. I’m thinking “Oh my God. Its really him” and he comes up and gives me the biggest and best hug (he gives really good hugs). I will always remember from this hug how soft his t-shirt was (which we still have and I love wearing) and big and strong his arms were. And also how soft his skin was. Seriously, the guy has baby soft skin but he doesn’t use lotion! Go figure!
We’ll skip all of the in between from the baggage claim to the car and then from the car to a diner. And jump right back to when we got back to the house and had our first kiss.
Have you ever seen Down To You with Freddie Prinze Jr & Julia Stiles? Do you remember when she describes their first kiss as one to put in a box to show their grandkids? This kiss was that.
skip to the 9:30 minute
When I’m nervous I talk way, way, way, way to much. So we get back to my house and I’m showing him around his room, pointing to the bathroom, and telling him random stories about things in the room, when he suddenly cups my face and kisses me. And if I thought I was gone before I was certainly gone now.
He stayed 3 days which was way to little . But by the time he left everything I thought was confirmed and admitted out loud. “I love you” (which I said first)
And now here I sit telling you this story as he he’s running around the house “cutting the grass” with Phoenix.
Next up I’ll tell you our engagement story and then we’ll get to all the stuff I’m sure you want to know.
The dirt.
I’d still love to do a big link up with all the other people participating in the This is Us series so if you’d like to share your story email me with “This is Us Link up” in the subject line to: beforethebabywakes {at} gmail dot com
