I was born in the arms of imaginary friends

This is what John Mayer says. Maybe he grew up much like my son Phoenix.

I twittered (should ‘t’ be capital?) just the other day that Phoenix has an incredible imagination. I seriously can (and do) watch him play all day.

From the “help I’ve fallen” and can’t get up routine he does. Which consist of him falling or getting “stuck” somewhere and calling “Mommy-help- me” in a voice so broken you can’t help but laugh.

To sticking Thomas on high surfaces and exclaiming “Oh no Thomas! Be careful”

Then making dinner on his grill and dropping every other piece of food because it’s “too hot. it will burn you”

It’s seriously adorable.

But I was not prepared for the appearance of imaginary friends…at least not an imaginary friend named…Jesus.

I kid you not people. My 2 yro sees Jesus at my parents front door regularly. And no not a gardener named Jesus [xeˈsus]. But the Son of God, who died on the cross. Yeah that Jesus.

It started innocently enough. We’re all sitting in the living room when Phoenix comes running into the room and pointing to the front door going “Jesus! Right there!”

“Okay Phoenix.” me as his unbelieving mother says. But this continues for days and days. And not only does Phoenix just see Jesus but he invites Jesus on outings with us like to the County Fair.

He says good-night to Jesus as we head up the stairs.

All unprompted might I add.

He’s also been spied having a few heated discussions with Jesus when Jesus won’t reveal himself to Mommy, Daddy, or Yaya.

Now I guess you all are wondering if I in fact believe he is seeing Jesus.

And to answer  you quite honestly. I have no fucking idea.

I believe in Jesus. And I consider myself a God fearing woman. I believe that Jesus does speak to us and I also believe that Jesus will reveal himself to us if we ask.

But if my 2 yro is seeing Jesus? I just don’t know. Maybe an angel.

But I also believe that a child’s spirit is still in someway connected to Heaven. I believe  sometimes when a baby is focused somewhere far off in a room and they are smiling & cooing that they could actually be seeing an angel. Call me crazy. But I do in fact believe this.

But again. Ask me if he’s seeing Jesus and I’ll respond “You got me”

What kind of imaginary friends do your children have?

Wow, I don’t know if I would be scared or amazed. I guess both. I believe kids can definitely see things we as adults can’t.

Have you ever seen the show with the psychic kids? I believe in that 100% as well.
