The Birth Part 1

I finally have been able to take some time from nursing, nursing, nursing, & the occasional shower to sit down & get Caspian’s birth story immortalized on the web for all of forever.

Starting at the beginning of August I started getting really anxious to reach the birth. I wasn’t feeling scared anymore about the labor & I certainly wasn’t feeling anxious or scared about having another baby {so was I right to feel that way? more on that later}. After Phoenix’s birthday on the 1st I started getting the feeling that I was going to go early…obviously as the month went on with nothing happening I realized that I was in fact wrong.

The Monday before I went into labor I had an appointment with one of my midwives & I expressed to her that I was feeling very discouraged because my contractions weren’t being consistent & weren’t even that strong & I felt we were accomplishing nothing. She felt I’d go by that weekend but gave me some blue & black cohosh to get things going & we talked about what the plan would be if I had not gone into labor by the 3rd.

I still had a few things that I wanted to accomplish over the week & also wanted to see what my body would do on its own so I held off on the blue & black. By my due date that Friday still nothing. Shawn decided we should go do some walking & I convinced him the best place to walk was the mall. So we hit the mall that night and walked for about an hour AND walked home. I had contractions that night, but as usual the minute I started tracking them they stopped. Such cock teases those contractions can be!

Saturday morning I woke up feeling great. We had a picnic to go to attend that afternoon & had planned to watch The Lorax in the park. I felt so good I even pulled Pinterest up & did my first sock bun. Saturday afternoon the contractions started coming but were again, not consistent at all. By 6 PM that evening at the park I noticed that they were a bit stronger & all of a sudden I got really nauseous. I grabbed Shawn & we walked over to a tree where I just let it go in front of all these people. I felt so incredibly disgusting! But it was then it hit me that this was the start. I looked down at Shawn as he was wiping the vomit off my skirt & said “It’s happening. Tonight or tomorrow morning.”

We headed back to our seats to start the movie & I continued to have pretty strong contractions for the next hour. But just as quickly as they started they stopped.

By 10 PM that evening they started up again & I started to mentally prepare myself to have a baby. I also started making my last minute “to-do” list in my head & texted my mom letting her know to get her shit in order because we’d be having a baby by Monday. I was sure of it.

This is obviously just part 1 & I’ll be back later this week {I hope} with part 2.

Glad you guys were still able to sit through the movie, but hoe embarrassing to throw up in front of a group of people.

But so exciting, at the same time.

Ahh…. this makes me nervous reading it. I am such a planner and control freak that I am probably going to start going nuts the moment I hit 37 weeks.

BUT I am excited to read the rest of the story!!!!!!
