Phoenix showing that his style far exceeds what is common place. via Instagram

Here I am wanting to finish off the long & draining day I had with a nice chilled glass of Moscato & mid pour I get this strange kick in my stomach.

Thanks for the reminder kid.

Instead that glass of water was a nice little substitute.

I’m proud of my internet-ness this week because I wrote TWO post here {not including this one} PLUS I actually did some reading of other stuff so that means I have a collection of things that rox my sox for this week.

What I’m thinking when I’m pinning-This post from Jill @ Baby Rabies gave me a good giggle, because, seriously? Especially the last one. Crafting is great, but like she said “Seriously you can buy that!”

Midwives Are the New Status Symbol- A good post from Being Pregnant @ Babble about a new current mom trend. As I said in my comment on the post, if this is in fact a new trend its a good. Hopefully it’ll help change things with maternity care.

Blogging Faux Pas-The Redux- I think I found this via Pinterest but it’s a good post about what not to do with a blog from Mrs. Monologues. As many times as this stuff has been said I can’t tell you the amount of blogs I come across that make these same mistakes OVER & OVER.

Do-Follow vs. No-Follow- This week I was approached my a PR person with some request I had never had before so I headed over to my friendly local FB blog group & asked how to handle it & was pointed to this great article {thanks Jamie} from Life as Leels that explained perfectly well what do-follow/no-follow links are & how to do it.

And if you missed my tweet or Facebook post about it my How To Be a Mom in 2012-Part 2 was up @ 5 Minutes for Mom this week.

I also tried a delicious pin from this week- I really try a lot of recipes I find on the ‘interest & have been meaning to make a roundup post lately but I must share this shrimp salad recipe NOW because it was sooooo good.

Did you read anything good this week or did you WRITE anything good this week? Link it up in the comments.

Now excuse me while I go get tipsy on some water.

How I make myself look pretty so people want to stare at me all day.

Beauty blogger I am not. Far, far from it. However, I did just recently make a few makeup purchases that I wanted to share with you. I’m a girly girl to the highest power but I haven’t always been a committed lover of makeup because it can be a little overwhelming.

I usually buy makeup based on some review in the back of Glamour magazine or whatever grabs my eye at Target, but never really understand how to apply it nor can I ever figure out what colors I should be wearing.

This past Mothers Day though I got tired of always staring at a tired face & knew that I needed to buy some new makeup because a lot of stuff was drying out & plain gross. And this go around I wanted good stuff.

For Mothers Day this year I wanted a Sephora gift card & last week I went wild in that store. Which also happened to be my first time in there EVER.

Here’s what I bought:

Urban Decay Naked2 - I could not love this more. The colors are perfect for everyday wear & evening I want to stare at all the pretty colors all.day.long

Urban Decay Baked Bronzer in Gilded-I’ve always been a fan of bronzer because I like the Jennifer Lopez sun-kissed look I get from it & when I’m really pressed for time I brush this on with some mascara & feel instantly better. So far I like it, but open to trying a different brand next time I hit Sephora up because I’m not sure I looove it.

Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream -For the past few weeks I’ve heard a lot about BB Cream & decided to try it because I like the “all in one” idea of it. I love that it has a primer in it since makeup tends to not stay put on me & that BB Cream has a primer in it is a plus. One step less. So far I like it. Coverage is nice & sheer & I don’t feel caked in makeup.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Sugar Coral -On the fence about this one if for no other reason than the color. I hardly ever, ever wear lipstick unless I’m attending an event with Shawn, but I do somehow feel less put together if I don’t have it on so I picked this up because it didn’t seem very lipstick like. More like a lip balm. But I’m not crazy about the color or it could be I’m just not used to seeing me with colored lips.

Smashbox High Definition Concealer -My eyes have always carried baggage with them so I like a good concealer & this {like the BB Cream} seems to do its job with just a small dab & not make me feel like I’m wearing tons of makeup.

Maybelline Superstay 10 hour Stain Gloss in Berry Heavenly- Obviously not purchased at Sephora, but a new purchase. I will tell you it’s not 10 hours. I like how it feels, but don’t really love what it does after it starts to wear. My lips just look like I’ve sucked on a frozen treat all day but yet dry. I find myself constantly retouching it with a lip gloss to keep it semi fresh. But I like the color.

Maybelline Gel Eyeliner in Blackest Black - Also not purchased at Sephora. I love this & have used it since it first came out. The only thing is it does take practice to not put it on so heavy but I love the look I get with it. If you get this just remember a little goes a long way

So that’s what’s new & highly used in my makeup box.

I didn’t blog this week. Ok. I did but even I didn’t think it was read worthy. But I did spend oodles amount of times alone & below is my curated list of awesome things on the interwebs from this week.

The Perils of Dressing Myself While Pregnant.  This was a particularly timely post considering I just bought my first pair of maternity pants. So glad to be out of stretchy pants.

Neon Shoe DIY  look for me to attempt these as soon as I find a suitable pair of sandals.

Side split skirts*  loved wearing this when I was a teen until of course I went to Bible School & had to sew them all up.

Baked Penne with Chicken & Sun Dried Tomatoes*  I made this for dinner Tuesday & it was so yummy! We even had leftovers Wednesday because I ruined dinner. Phoenix literally gobbled up two plates!

Sante Fe Chicken Salad Wrap* this was lunch this week & OMG. I’m such a sucker for anything remotely Mexican-food related & this did not disappoint. Even my second picky eater {my husband} who eats NO vegetables didn’t mind the beans or corn. Yum!

Adulting Blog  love this funny new blog I found

My Child Would Never Do That haven’t we all been here before?

Thirteen like always Rebecca seems to have stolen the thoughts from my head. I’ve thought a post like this over, but not sure I could have said it as beautifully as she did.

Lessons Learned Starting a Second Blog thanks to a great idea from a FB friend I’m contemplating starting a second blog {won’t tell you about what just yet though} IF I do these are some great tips.

Hilary Duff Funny or Die H Duff & I are the same age & even though I’m on my 2nd pregnancy I still find it hard to believe that Lizzie McGuire is having a baby. We’re like adults now.

Do you have anything awesome to share this week? Link it up in the comments.

*Found these things via Pinterest. You better be following me.

I’m like dying over here with the start of a cold. I literally slept all day Thursday while Phoenix made me hot tea & steaming noodle soup. Kidding, I obvs put ice in the soup so I didn’t burn my tongue.

Shawn was in Chicago three weeks ago & when he came home he came back with a cold. I told him over & over & over to rest up, drink fluids & get some cough medicine. But he didn’t listen & now here we are him still with a raging cold & me getting one. Cheers to the freaking weekend.

But I did manage to scour the web for some cool ass shit.

I puffy paint heart this blog post Adryon posted on her Facebook page. It’s 10 things 90s kids will have to explain to their kids. Everything on this list had me nodding & laughing in agreement. Topanga, Tamagotchi, Lisa Frank, Fern Gully {which I hated} oh the 90′s!

I’ve been trying to journal more, because let’s just be honest not every single thing that goes on in my head is something you want to hear about. Trust me. Its a scary place. But I’ve been reading Hope’s blog Besottment & December is a journal challenge called REVERB. Each day she post a new prompt.

If you’ve noticed I’ve been posting some more sponsored content on my blog. It’s Christmas yo! But I liked this post from Mom Crunch about sponsored content. How do you guys feel about them?

A new blog I discovered Oh Joy! It just has a lot of pretty stuff. It’s the grown up blog I hope to be one day.

And another blog that is not so new to me but I love because I love her blog name & I stalk it in my head. Like I just repeat it on a daily because its awesome. My Favorite & My Best. It’s the blog name I wish I would have come up with. Also. I may do some oil pulling.

And a funny pin.

The Muny Thanksgiving Day Parade

Monday, November 28th, 2011

When you are 11, 12, & 13 and you are not allowed to listen to secular music the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade is one of the best events of the season.

I’d sit all curled up in front of the TV with a cinnamon bun & singing the words to my favorite songs by my favorite artist as they made floated down the parade route. I was never worried about my Mom or Dad instinctively jumping up to turn the TV off because I knew that they too loved the parade.

They always seemed a little confused when I would know every word & every artist that appeared & my answer was always “I heard the song in the mall” they’d eat it up every time.

But when you’re 24 & your 3 year old can sing the chorus to Nicky Ninaji’s Muny the Macy Parade seems way less important.

However, the turkey, {canned} cranberry sauce, & sweet potato pudding is just as sweet as you remember.
